Buying a brand new townhouse

Just recently left the Army and looking to possibly buy a townhouse I saw which is approximately 45 minutes away from downtown Chicago. Its a brand new construction finished within the past 6 months. Its 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, 1600 sqft. Currently listed at 260k. Its the first finished building of 20 that are being built. My plan is to purchase and live in it for 2 years and then rent it out. Already talking to an agent about using my VA loan. Just looking for tips of anything to be on the look out for. Does it make sense to purchase new for a greater price? Thanks in advance.
