My First purchase and unintentional House Hack

Posted

Investment Info:

Small multi-family (2-4 units) buy & hold investment in West New York.

Purchase price: $310,000
Cash invested: $21,000

Currently "House Hacking", living on the first floor of a 2-family house and renting the second floor.

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

I was looking to buy a home that would have a mortgage less than the rent I was paying at the time. 2-family home seemed like the answer.

How did you find this deal and how did you negotiate it?

Worked with a real estate agent/broker Christine Ayubi.

How did you finance this deal?

Through my agent

How did you add value to the deal?

I was the sole owner with the money since it is my primary residence.

What was the outcome?

I m still living here 5 years later and looking to expand my business as I learn more about the real estate.

Lessons learned? Challenges?

Major lesson is to due your research on the neighbors, especially if you plan on living in the property!

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?
