Properties with septic tanks
I have been looking for a duplex to owner occupied for a while now here in Tampa, Fl (which has been very difficult) and I have finally come across a property that I like in a good area but the only two things that worry me about the property is that it is on a septic tank and The taxes are very high on this house for some odd reason. I have sat down and run all the numbers to figure an offer that would allow me to cover the mortgage and the taxes in the rent that the tenants will be paying in the front unit. The taxes on the house 2 doors down is about 1100 but the current owners payed 3350.00 for taxes last year. How can I find out why the taxes are so high on this property? Also what advice can some of you give me about owning a property with the septic tank or any problems or warnings that I should be aware of or be on the lookout for? Why do people tend to stay away from properties with septic tanks?
