I haven't built a house hack personally, but I'm currently involved in the construction of one on the design and engineering side of it. In fact, my client's planning package is currently in the final stages of approval from the Planning Department. We should be pulling the construction permit for him this summer. 

He is going to be building a 4-plex (3 Bed, 3 Bath each unit). He currently owns the land and there's an existing house on it. We're going to demo the existing house to build the new structure (to give him more rent-able square footage per unit) and he's going to live in one of the units. His target rent per unit is $1,800/mth. and he's financing the majority of the construction through an FHA loan. There's a lot I know about this project and I'd be happy to share more, is there anything you're trying to find out about house hacking, specifically?

There are likely to be some minor design changes to this prior to Planning approval, but we're well underway to getting this planned and permitted for my client.
