Has anyone started off this way?

I am planning on purchasing a SFH using an FHA loan. So, I'll live in it for a year or 2 and move out and rent the property but after that I'm stuck on what's next. Has anyone done this and it worked out for them or does that seem like a waste of time and money?

@Tavaris Little, maybe a better question is: how will you be better off if you DON'T buy?

Over the last 8 years, it should have worked for nearly everyone! You can guess why.

Nowadays, it'll likely be harder to find/buy the extra "free" 17% equity that will let you refi out of the FHA Loan in the time frame you desire. But that's no excuse to not try.

You may get responses giving positive testimonials, OR cautionary tales, but, you shouldn't NEED those responses to inspire OR discourage you. You should be your own person.

It will be good if your search soon leads you to be interested in a SPECIFIC 1-4plex property. (FHA loans are not just for SFRs). Then you can post your ANALYSIS here for opinions! All the best...
