Strategies for Finding a Home for Your Family
I've been in my "starter home" for way too long. Now with 3 children and the need to move to a county with better schools, we are looking to upgrade. As a "lurker" who will pull the trigger on his first investment, I wonder if folks have creative stories or recommendations for purchasing their own place of residence?
I am not looking to be a "home hacker" and purchase a duplex. Instead, I want to find a deal (some equity?) that is not retail. I am challenging myself to solve this problem as I would if I was approaching an investment opportunity, even going so far as mailing yellow letters! Not sure if it makes sense to look at distressed properties with the same perspective.
Any good stories out there?
