Hi Guys,

Am Casynella Cyrus, A mom, Wife and recent DC Public School Teacher who left her job behind in June, 2017 to focus fully on my short term Housing Rentals. My husband and I currently own a lovely home in What's considered the worst part of the City here in DC, "south east Washington, and were told that no one would ever what to utilize our space as a vacation home. After being a Landlord for the last 10 years, I think we were both up to whatever challenges came along with short term guests.

What has been the Response to our Efforts:

From the day we've listed a room in our home, maybe a minute later we were booked for a weekend, I thought it might off been a prank all the way up until the guest showed up and followed by the direct deposit of his payment into my checking account. We've held a steady rate of 80% and above occupancy all year long and have managed to branch off to converting not only our residential home but our full time rental into a short term rental. Before the year was out we had signed a rent to own option on a new home and was also utilizing that as a vacation home.

Challenges Faced:

The biggest challenge this far had been to quit my full time job while placing my trust totally into something that am not that familiar with.

Hiring the right people that are of a like mindset as my own. I eventually found a live-in property manager that I offer room and board and a monthly stipend to assist my business to keep growing at the paste I want it to grow at.

Positive Outcome:

Over the last year I was able to grow and evolve like never before in the area of a Manager, Mom, wife and an all around Human Being. I have more time to live my life the way I want to, am more confident in my abilities to be my own boss, take more risks and enjoy the time I have to plan and develop new strategies to evolve my business.

Where am I today.

Here I am one year later, Am currently in the process of purchasing two properties and hoping to grow and learn even more than I did the year Before.

Sincerely

Nell Cyrus
