I am looking for a good trust worthy contractor in the San Antonio area.  Please shoot me a message if anyone has any recommendations.  Thanks!

Contractors are like bread.  Even a good loaf has a shelf-life. It's just the unfortunate reality of contractors in San Antonio.  It often seems that no matter how much money I offer them, I can't get reliability, quality work, and/or speed.  You may be able to get two of those traits, but not all three...and remember my statement above, eventually that will fade too.

It's gotten to the point I am general contracting my own projects. I think the only way I would go back to hiring a GC would be if I made them a partner in the project so they had skin in the game and we were all working toward the same goal.

It is so bad here, I have talked with contractors I used to work with in St. Louis and offered to move them down here and guarantee them work.  Sorry to paint such a bleak picture, but I have been continually "less than satisfied" with contractors in the San Antonio area.

I have one solid contractor I work with and he is not exclusive to me.  I have toyed with the idea of offering him an annual salary to guarantee he is available only to me.  Just not sure I am ready to take that step.

I make this negative post because I want you to understand how bad it is here. Please beware of any/all contractors you hire, get everything in writing, check their licenses, insurance, etc. and most importantly stick to your agreed upon payment schedule.  I wish you the best of luck @Robert Hutsell
