Mortgage Broker Asking Me for Money After Closing

I just bought my first home with an FHA loan. I used a mortgage broker, who made it a point to tell me that due to an error on his part he is taking a $1500 hit on what he makes on the transaction. I only paid $1500 at closing in addition to a good faith deposit of $1000. My broker called me the day after closing, asking if something could be worked out because he basically made nothing on the sale. Is this even legal? He's basically asking me to give him money for a mistake he made which resulted in me paying less at closing. Any insight is greatly appreciated, thanks!!
