Contractor insurances???
Question:
Should I be looking to see all subs insurance and licenses before i hire them? How do i know they carry the correct insurance. Am i just looking for general liability insurance that covers there business?? I have heard that some companies are using incorrect insurances.
Thanks,
Aaron

Yes, absolutely! Have their agent issue a copy of their coverage directly to you and have you named as a certificate holder.... that way you'll know it was current and in effect at least as of that date. Don't go by a copy the contractor may provide.
Contact your insurance agent to be sure they have the coverage necessary and of course carry your own Builder's Risk policy.
At a minimum, General Liability and Worker's Compensation. Even if they have the minimum required by their licensing (if applicable), the minimums here in MD are laughable.
