Insurance Policy Cancelled
I just found out my insurance policy on 2 of my rentals was cancelled due to non payment. This is odd since one of my properties has my insurance payments in escrow on the mortgage so the mortgage company should have paid this, but while I am hashing this out with the mortgage company and the insurance company -
I am told by the mortgage broker that because they have been cancelled, my only option is Fair Plan, which I guess is like the super expensive version for people who don't have any other options. I asked if I could go through another broker or another company and they said maybe, but probably not. They probably wouldn't insure me since I had a policy get cancelled.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Are there companies that will insure you even if you have had a policy lapse?
