I went to work on her that summer, teenage kid too far from home...Garth Brooks song lol

I was 19 years old, (year 2000) just dropped out of college, and was ready to get at life. (Not that I have not been successful, but I wish I had finished college. Maybe one day.) I had saved up $5500 and started looking for a home to purchase. I found a HUD home in a decent neighborhood, made an offer, and got a contract. After a couple of months we closed and I got to work on the house. I paid $32,500 for the house, spent $6500 on windows, paint, and carpet. Rented it out for a year and then moved in with my new wife for 2 years. During those three years we purchased the house next door via seller finance, and also another foreclosure. I'll post more on those at a later date. We ended up selling the home for $59,900 and moved into the foreclosure mentioned above. It was a great start to my real estate career and I never looked back.

DISCLAIMER:  This picture was taken earlier today.  Almost 12 years after we sold it.  It is in much worse shape now than when I originally purchased.  I didn't think about taking pictures back then.  When I left, it was a dollhouse.  I noticed the house is set to auction at the courthouse steps next month due to foreclosure.  Here it is 12 years later.  Don't laugh...too hard.  It's almost too embarrassing to post.  I promise it used to be a good looking house.
