What drives you!?

I think we should all participate in this discussion as sometimes real estate investing is not all about just making offers and cashing big checks! Yeah right I wish! I partnered up with my mentor on my first flip as an agent. We had some delays with the contractor (big surprise there) and I was finally able to list it on Dec 23, 2014. By Jan 19, 2015 we had our first offer and we accepted. Thinking we would make a few thousand each we thought we were doing ok. Then came an inspector who must have just woke up mad and wanted to take his anger out on house flippers. Man, this guy was so picky and just pulled this house apart with his critique. I knew the contractor used (which I had no say as it was not my money) was not the best but was told he did a good job for the money. Well come to find out he lied to us and said there was no water in the crawl space when, in fact, there was not only water but a bunch of mold. I mean how do guys live with themselves by just flat out lying like that. If you are in Indianapolis I will be glad to give out his name. DO NOT USE HIM!

So we have our response from the buyer and of course they want us to practically just build them a brand new house! Ha! Ha! I mean it seems like that is there response. I just want to pose the question to anyone who would care to respond: What drives you?

For me, what drives me is the thought that I was not meant to make it in life. I failed and quit about everything I have ever set out to do in life. I have made the choice that I will not give up anymore. No matter how bad things get, I just know that if I stay in this business long enough and learn from my mistakes I will be ok. I never expected to get rich from this I simply wanted a decent income someday. I am willing to pay my dues in order to make that happen. Has anyone else been punched in the face and said "come on"! "Bring it on!"

I will not give up and I will not quit. For once in my life I know that nothing worth having comes easy. I have completed my 8th wholesale deal since August of 2014 and I know the best is yet to come! What about you?

Stephen Barton I am in Indy, what was the contractors name? I have spoken with a lot of poor business people in the trades and also in real estate here.

What drives me?
The opportunity to win!
The opportunity to provide for my family!
The opportunity to help others!
The opportunity to be my own boss!

So many things in this business drive me!
