Investment Info:

Small multi-family (2-4 units) buy & hold investment.

Purchase price: $350,000
Cash invested: $100,000

My parents and I partnered and purchased our first real estate investment property in 2023. Our plan is to hold this medium-term rental property to build equity and develop a larger portfolio soon. We are managing the property ourselves and still figuring out the kinks.

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

I wanted to get into buy & hold real estate once I finished college. This was a perfect opportunity for my family and I. The property is located close to a hospital and made it perfect for us and our community by providing a family-owned property to traveling nurses.

How did you finance this deal?

Convential Loan

What was the outcome?

We are still navigating the deal and maximizing the outcomes! Currently, we have learned a lot on how deals happen and what it takes to be a competitor in our market.

Lessons learned? Challenges?

Our biggest challenge is the real estate market and slow season in Arizona. The vacancy percentage is higher than desired and it is very competitive to get renters into both units. We are still learning every day. In the end, every experience is very rewarding.

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

We knew an agent who has assisted our parents in the past! Chris Mooney with Tierra Antigua Real Estate!
