My First Househack

Megan Stoner
Posted

Investment Info:

Single-family residence other investment.

Purchase price: $285,000
Cash invested: $9,975

4 bed 2 bath house hack - renting by the room.

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

I was going back to school and didn't want to have to work full-time while being a student. I also had plenty of friends who needed a place to live, plus I enjoy living with others - house hacking was a no-brainer, and has changed my life. Now that I am finished with school, and becoming more competent in a career that I love, I am looking to add a second house hack.

What was the outcome?

Immediate success - I lived in one room and rented out the three others to friends. I have had a total of 5 different tenants over the past three years with no vacancies. I was able to focus on school, and the first year of a demanding career thanks to this living situation.

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

Jordan Moorhead - extremely helpful and educational. Highly recommend!
