Accessory Dwelling Unit - Design and Construction

Matthew Krick
Posted

Investment Info:

Small multi-family (2-4 units) other investment.

Purchase price: $300,000
Cash invested: $300,000

We built an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) in our backyard. I designed it myself and GC the project. We hope to rent it out on Airbnb or to traveling nurses. I loved the process so much, now I am designing these ADUs (aka carriage houses, mother-in-law suites, alley flats, etc.) for anyone in the front range area.

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

I wanted to densify our urban neighborhoods to add more housing choices and help the housing crisis.

How did you finance this deal?

I hustled everyday until it was completed.

How did you add value to the deal?

I designed it and built it.

What was the outcome?

Got a rentable extra dwelling unit in the backyard.
