Should we go for a 2-4 unit or straight into commercial with 5+?

Hey, myself and three other like minded individuals decided that we should team up and invest in real estate and pool our money and resources together to efficiently become more versed in REI. We all have read the same books on REI and have watched tens of podcasts on REI as well. Basically we are wondering if we should start with 2-4 units just to get our feet wet and the ease of getting those and start the stack there or should we go after a 8-plex or higher.

Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated!
