Investment Info:

Single-family residence buy & hold investment in Kapolei.

Purchase price: $600,000
Cash invested: $20,000
Sale price: $1,100,000

My husband and I held on to our rental home in Hawaii until we felt it was the perfect time to sell.

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

My husband and I are both active duty Navy so when stationed in Hawaii, we saw the opportunity to purchase a home that we could turn into a rental when we transferred, and sold when we thought the time was right.

How did you finance this deal?

VA financing since we used it as our residence while stationed there.

How did you add value to the deal?

I updated flooring, appliances, backsplash, and added solar panels.

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

Calen Kim-Walker is our Hawaii real estate agent and she is amazing.
