New to real estate investing

Hello. I have decided to take the jump into real estate investing. I’m very excited about it, but know just as much as the books I’ve been reading, videos I’ve been watching, and podcasts I’ve been listening to, but have not started to build my network.

While I believe that I’ve learned a great deal so far, nothing compares to speaking to people who are in the game. I can read all I want, but I know I don’t know anything at this point.

Right now my thoughts are that I would like to invest in multi family homes for a buy and hold strategy for the long term and then upgrade to large multi family commercial properties through syndication. Not sure if I can go straight to syndication, but the ability to scale a business is appealing. My market i live in is Cumming, GA, but I’ve lived in the Atlanta Market along with the North metro Atlanta market.

I have a great job right now, but my why behind all of this is that I’m starting a family and want to work because I want to work. I don’t want to rely on my job to produce income for my family. I want to retire by 50 at the latest (20 years). I want to be able to provide generational wealth for my family and give my future kids a better life than I had growing up.

Long story short, I know very little and would love to know where to start. I’ll be happy to meet for coffee or lunch or even listen to words from the wise here.

Thanks for attending my TED talk. Looking forward to hearing from you!
