Acquiring City owned property

Hey everyone, so I came across a property today in which the owner passed away but didn’t have any next of kin listed to pass the property onto. Found this out after having a talk with the neighbors, from what I was told the city took possession of the property a little over a year ago. Does anyone have any experience buying property from the city? Would it be the same as buying from the bank? Still pretty new so wasn’t sure but if anyone has any insight it’d be much appreciated!

@Anthony Mcmichael It's possible, it just takes time and persistence, because they'll tell you no at first. But if the property is in Jacksonville, I would try reaching out to the Community Development department for the City. Since they usually handle housing matters of these sort for the City.
