ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) in Salt Lake City, Utah! <3
Hello Utah BP Family! <3
I have a bunch of random thoughts, questions, & scatterbrained ideas regarding building an ADU that I'd love some guidance/feedback on if anyone is willing or has knowledge/expertise on! I've been considering doing this on two of my homes & would love to find out if there are any brave souls who have gone before me!
- Does anyone know of any people who have successfully navigated building an ADU on their property locally?
- Also, based on the new regulations (1 of the 2 units must be owner-occupied), how do you think this will impact the home's value? At the end of the day, it's still technically a Single Family Home with an extra unit to help offset expenses, but not a "true" investment property or legal duplex.
- Does anyone have any ideas on creative ways to finance building this (besides Refi or HELOC)?
- Does anyone know any reasonably priced Builders they'd recommend?
I plan to go meet with the SLC Zoning/Permitting office to learn all I can, but thought I'd reach out here first. Thank you so much in advance for any and all advice, suggestions, & ideas! :)
