Colorado Springs Short term Rental regulations

I attended the CONO meeting last night where the city presented their plan to regulate short term rentals in Colorado Springs. They removed one statue which stated you could only have one group every 7 days which would have essentially shut down any STR businesses. They did keep the statute which states you can only use one unit per parcel no matter what the zoning is. There were quite a few investors/owners who did their due diligence prior to purchasing and based their investment decision on a multi-family property on being allowed to do STR's in however many units they wanted (which is currently allowed). The reasoning given by the city to change this was that "some" investors were abusing their multiple unit situation. Well, fine, then shut them down but I feel it's wrong to punish everyone by passing a blanket ordinance like this. There will be another meeting tonight at 6 pm at the Westside Community Center 1628 W Bijou. Also the plan is being presented to the Planning Commission next Thursday at around 10 a.m. (meeting starts at 8:30 a.m.). If you have, or think you may in the future want to invest, in a short term rental in Colorado Springs, please get involved now! As a local Realtor and investor, I am all for oversight, but not when it impedes on private property rights!

@Tyler Work - it was odd because the city spokeswoman said they have no issue with someone renting out up to five individual rooms in their home which to me is more disruptive to a neighborhood with all the cars, etc. If something is zoned multi-family, what possible harm can it cause if someone wants to do STR instead of long term provided they follow all the rules regarding trash and noise, etc?
