Dallas: Newbie looking for some advice and direction.

Hello all! I am extremely new to REI, but it's what i've decided I want to do full time eventually. I'm up to my eyeballs in podcasts, books and BP posts/forums, which has all been great. But I feel like I just need to sit down with a couple people who are actually doing REI in my area and ask some questions/discuss beginner strategies and so forth. I am aware of the monthly meetup at Ginger Man and plan on going in September. Is there anyone who would be willing to meet up and chat a bit about how you got started and what you're doing now? I will gladly buy a couple drinks or a cup of coffee for any takers!
