Best REI group in DFW?

Question

I know there are several investing groups in the DFW area. I am curious which ones you have tried and which you like the best. Thanks!

I've been to several clubs in the DFW area and one of the best is DFWREI Club in Fort Worth. They meet EVERY Saturday from 9:00 - 12:00 noon. This is not a hype club that tries to sell you stuff. It is full of seasoned investors who are very helpful. Very friendly to new members and they have a built in networking time so you can meet and build your power team.

This is a little older thread - but, seeing how it references the DFW REI CLUB I wanted to mention we are moving to the Hurst Conference Center as of our first MAY meeting on May 6, 2017.  Time is still the same 9-11:30.  We'll have networking opportunity, as usual, dream team introductions, motivational video to keep your mindset in the right place, along with our topic de jour - this week it will be  "Investment Property Valuation Workshop".

Hurst Conference Center, 1601 Campus Dr, Hurst, TX 76054 is easily accessed from the Westbound service road when you exit Precinct Line Rd (you'll see the Hurst Police and Municipal building first, then when you pass it by keep looking right and it is just off the main road by less than 1/4 mile - you can see it standing about 3 stories tall.)

I just found about 12 very positive reviews of our club (all unsolicited- really!) at the page for our club found on  google maps here .  If you wonder what other attendees are saying, please take a look for yourself!

We will be flying to DFW to look around for some investments in the area.  We are from California.  I noticed on the DFW Investment club calendar that there are no events planned on the weekend we are going.  (Labor Day weekend).

Can anyone offer me any pointers into what areas we should look into?  We will be meeting with some Turnkey property companies as well as a realtor who will be showing us around.

@Greg--Thanks for the information.  I am interested in SFR pretty much anywhere in DFW. I actually live about an hour south, but I do home inspections all of the time in DFW (From Weatherford/North Fort Worth to Wylie and everything in between), so driving distance is not too much of a concern. It seems like The northern part of the Metroplex is booming right now, which actually concerns me some. I was wondering if it would be better to be ahead of the wave and look in the directions it is spreading to enjoy the benefits of that future growth without having to pay a premium now.  Of course, I could be way off, which is why it is nice to bounce my ideas off people :)

@Steve - The DFWREIClub (dot com) meets every Saturday at the Diamond Oaks Country Club at 8:30 am (networking) and 9 am (training). Huge buffet breakfast included with admission fees. We hope you will join us. Like BP, we are open to everyone who wants to learn about REI.

Another good source Timur mentioned is Dennis Henson. He has a few clubs in and around the Metroplex as well . I believe most of them meet on Saturdays as well. Google his name and one of his sites will pop right up.

Depending on what part of the Metroplex you are in, and what niche you want to invest in / learn about, there are several other great clubs to choose from. Reply back here and let me know where you are, how far you're willing to drive each way, and what niche you trying to learn about and I'll do my best to help you connect.

@ Rob - To my knowledge, all the clubs in the Metroplex allow walk-ins. I would suggest you visit any club you are interested in online prior to showing up. Sometimes meeting times/locations get changed, and sometimes (as in the case of the DFWREICLUB = 20% discount) you can get discounts / special upgrades / better seating / etc. if you signup and pre-pay online.

I really like two different groups.

A) DFW REI Club which meets at Diamonds Oaks Country Club every Saturday. Greg Wilson and Robin Carriger to a great job at bringing investing down to earth.

B) Dennis Henson's AREA Real Estate Meetup

Both groups are run by likeminded Investors who emphasize assisting newbies in any way possible. In this unique form of business- you can never get enough of caring people who are truly interested in helping others.
