Ideas to spend money wisely?

Hello

I am currently working in San Francisco downtown due to recent job move and spending up to $1500 just for a room

and don't feel like it's money well spent

Any ideas how I can convert this situation into a fairy decent real estate investment while still staying close to work.Appreciate your inputs
