There are really two strategies to direct mail. Both work, but it depends on what you are trying to accomplish and your budget. So, the short answer is yes, but here is more:

1. Spray and pray - big budget and good response time, a team set behind the scenes. You will get A LOT of appointments by sending A LOT of hard target mailers (like the ones that say 5th notice and such, drive return calls), but it's a lot for a little. You have to kiss a lot of frogs to succeed so you need to be money ready and have VAs.

2. Micromarketing - build smaller lists and write personal, targeted letters or postcards. Much higher response rate, but more time consuming. This is more person and human friendly and good for newer investors who want to build locally.
