Kitchen cabinet pricing

Does anyone have any recs for buying kitchen cabinets? I've heard that you can make them custom online and save a bunch. It feels like kitchen cabinets have increased insanely. I have a rental in the NY/NJ area and the quotes I get for a small kitchen are wild. Close to 30% of my reno budget for my 800 square foot apartment.

For a rental, I would just use off-the-shelf cabinets like those at Home Depot or Lowes. They should only run you about $2-3k.

Of course ordered cabinets are going to be much more, like $15k.

I'd stay away from IKEA and any RTA type cabinets......based on my experience....
