Do Appraisers look for Permits?

Good evening,

Do appraisers look for permits? I have an appraisal coming up which I will not be present for. I am wondering if I need to provide copy of permits or not. I am assuming not.

Also, should I email the appraiser a list of home improvements before the appraisal and any other tips.
