Best way to guesstimate Reno Costs from another state

Evening:

I have found a interesting BRRRR deal that is in need of some good renovation. Simple question. If I don't want to slow down the process how do I go about getting the best quote for my renovations? Do I get it under contract then use the 30-40 days to crunch numbers and possibly pull out if it doesn't make sense? I do have an acquaintance in the town: would you slip him a few bucks to go meet contractors and take photos? I can't imagine I would be able to get a great idea by having a FaceTime walkthrough the place. But maybe..? Any thoughts?
