My first new marketing tool for 2013 is going to be a web site. As a matter of fact I want to take this seriously and really concentrate on SEO of which blogging is an important part. My web site will be developed with the intent of getting leads for me to hopefully buy properties. My question is what do I blog about? If my target audience is motivated sellers, waht do I write about 52 times a year? Or, should I be much more general in my blogging? Perhaps even deviate from real estate from time to time to keep it interesting. I know a lot of people here write about things that help other investors; however, I dont feel very comfortable doing that. I do mail about 700 letters a month that should drive traffic to the site as well.

If you're attempting to attract property owners that will perhaps sell to you, then you want the majority of your content to revolve around what someone who wants to sell in your area might google or find useful.

Since you're in SLC, perhaps some of your blog posts might be:
    - 10 most common mistakes that homeowners made in 2012 while trying to sell
    - Why a Realtor may not be the best option when you need to sell fast in SLC
    - The current condition of the SLC real estate market and what that means to you as a house seller
    - How folks in SLC have been scammed by investors in the past, how not to fall victim
    - So your vacation home in SLC isn't selling...now what?

These are just off the top of my head. But you see where I'm going with this? The worst thing you could do while blogging is be "general". Make your posts specific to whatever demographic you're targeting.

And use the GoogleKeywordTool.com to find out what folks are searching for in the way of real estate for your area. The research from said tool will give you better insight on what to write about and also what keywords you want to sprinkle within your posts, how you want to title your posts, tags, etc.

Good SEO isn't any one thing, it's more like a combination of 15 things all working together.

Hope this points you in the right direction.
