I was looking at ordering some books on Amazon. I can't find what I want at the brick and mortar bookstores because I am reading advanced topics.

Amazon had print format and kindle digital but not .pdf I am used to ordering a digital book online and saving and reading in .pdf.

Does the Kindle digital reader app for Desk Top hog resources and constantly run in the background?? My only option is to down load this kindle reader or contact the author to see if they have a .pdf version I can buy. I just do not like junking up my office with more paperback or adding more crap ware to my computer.

The app mentions running on XP, Vista, and 7 but I have Windows 8 so do not know if it would even work. I wish these companies would just allow you to buy and put in the format you want rather than pigeon hole you.
