What is "Alignable" and why do I need it??

I have been getting several emails recently from a company called Alignable - I have no idea what this is and wouldn't think twice about it, except the emails are always titled about Referrals from people I actually know. So yesterday, I said fine I will sign up to see what all this is about, and within 5 minutes on their site it had tried to get me to give it access to my email contacts at least 10 times, presumably to send more of those 'referral' emails. Has anyone had experience with this site? It seems like an over-intrusive version of LinkedIn (which is intrusive enough itself).  Does anyone have any insight as to what this service provides that would make it worthwhile in the sea of other social media platforms? Thanks for the advice!
