AppFolio features - Automated e-mails?

My property manager for my 4-plex uses AppFolio. I can see my statements, work orders and leases on there, but it has to be able to do more right? Is there a way that my property manager or I can set it up to send me automated e-mails when rents are deposited?

Any other helpful features you recommend asking them to use?

Not sure if bumping works on these forums. But does anyone have thoughts on this?

I am a property manager app folio has some great stuff.  The reports are nice and they should be able to text you when rents are deposited.  Not sure what you mean by bump.  Most of the features I think are to help save time for the property managers.  I will follow this thread I see what others suggest.  Tenets can send in work orders and rents which is huge for them and should give owners some piece of mind that things are being brought to their managers attention.

@Eric Bilderback thanks for your comments. Bump is just a term to move a stale forum topic back to the top. Looks like it worked ;-)

When you say "they should be able to text you", do you mean that the AppFolio system should be able to send automated texts when money from my properties is deposited? I want to not have to call my PM on the 5th of the month to make sure everyone is on time each month. Or them have to remember to contact me. The neighborhood for this property is likely C or D and payments aren't reliable.

Steven,

Good question -- It's funny because they create email tools for the owner/PM (for rent increases, lease agreements, etc) to reach out potentials/current residents but there really isn't a notification or email system within Appfolio to reach out to you (the owner) with said notifications. The answer is no - they are more or less focused on communication from Owner - Residents. Frustrating when you are asking for something so simple.

They do not have a section for web developers or you'd be able to easily create something for this. Silly when you think about it. Hope this helps

@Brett Monaghan Thanks for the explanation! It does seem silly that it doesn't exist. I'll keep working with my PM for other ways to automate. Maybe explore IFTTT or something through the bank that they use. Thanks again and take care.

@Steven Kleppin

I think you have to request it then they can hit you when they are making deposits.  I don't know your relationship obviously.  But I like to get a couple days between the owner report and money due.  If I guy pays the night of the 5th it may take a day or to to get to the bank etc.

IFTTT is the best bet.. - I was thinking about mentioning this but thought it would be too technical. Let me know if you think of anything - I am in the early testing phases of something like this for automated management. Would love to hear your solution.
