Resident/client communication with email and texting

I have been reading some old posts here on BP about communicating via email and text/SMS.  This was a common issue I heard about from clients when I worked for a large property management software vendor and the problem intrigues me.

I looked over all the solutions people had offered in older posts and noticed they are generic contact/messaging services.  I was wondering if people are happy with the solutions they are working with or if you feel a more property management focused option should be available?  I would like to gauge interest in order to possibly create a custom solution for this industry.

What are some hangups with your current provider or what keeps you from trying any of the available solutions out there now?

I feel two similar but different needs would be resident communication by property managers and client contact for real estate investors.  Any other types of business needs for this industry I am not aware of?
