Public adjusters in Albany,NY region

Hi all, I have owned a multifamily rental property in Troy, NY for a few years now.  Unfortunately there was a small kitchen fire in one of the units this week.  I opened a claim with my insurance company immediately, and before they were able to send anyone out, I received a call from a public adjuster saying I should sign with him because he will get me better than what the insurance company would offer.

So I am wondering if anyone has ever interacted with public adjusters in general?  And more specifically has anyone dealt with Capital Restoration Services in the Albany region for performing the restoration work?  I don't see too many reviews for them online.

I have a bad feeling I am about to lose years of profits in this situation.

I'm an insurance agent in the area and at the risk of being called a corporate shrill, I would tell you to avoid working with a public adjuster. The only exception to that would be if the claim doesn't work out in a way that you think is fair.

Public adjusters are paid commission based on what they "help you" collect. If you have a straight forward claim but, you had a public adjuster the whole time, your losing 10% to the adjuster for no good reason. If you get through the claim and then a public adjuster helps you get a few extra bucks at the end, they only get paid on those few extra bucks.
