According to Reuters:

If true, it sounds like nothing out of the ordinary for for the real estate investing "education" space, where gurus and others with promises of fast riches, often leave "students" with little to show for it but a large credit card bill and more and more upsold "education."

I didn't read the article since what I gleamed from other posters is that it was typical shoddy reporting with a lot of missing facts to be able to figure out what actually happened.

Now if there were services promised (Regardless of the ultimate quality of the product) and were not given, these "Apprenticeships" then that is a problem. If the courses just kind of suck and are expensive and people don't actually want to do any work to use what the learn then I don't see anything illegal.

Oh and

"expensive and mostly useless seminars"

Beware Liberal Arts Colleges!
