Looking for a way to grow your GURU business? Start by pissing people off . . . .

Here's an email I got today from "1 Day Dough Sales " . . . not only did I get the email sent to me, but it was also sent to FIVE email addresses that we use here on BP. The people behind this use the "catchy" email subject of "Learn How To Embarrass Your Competition - This Wednesday"

First off, I never signed up for this list. Secondly, I never added ANY of the other four emails to ANY mailing list. These emails must have been scraped from our website . . . a BIG no no!

According the the FTC's website discussion of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, under the PENALTIES section:

Scraping our emails is a simple violation of our Terms of Service, so the "Harvesting" of our emails is a plain violation of decorum, and possibly, of the law.

For fun, I decided to check my junk mail for the people behind this email and found that each of the 5 email addresses have been getting messages for each of the last three days about this webinar.

I'm not 100% certain that this Cameron Dunlop is behind these emails, but a google search of "1 day dough" pulls up his website and I found pitches for this program on other REI sites, so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that his people are behind these emails.

I try to judge people by the way they act . . . while I don't know ANYTHING about the content of these seminars or the people behind them (other then what I've seen online), these tactics have caused me to NEVER want anything to do with them.

Judge for yourselves . . . .

Josh, I too received that same email and many more like it form the same person. I NEVER signed up or requested my email be added to their mailing list. I can now assume that my email was harvested illegally from your site here on BP as well.

What can be done about it? Please inform me/us.
