I ran across this book many years ago. It is a really nice book explaining the basics of wood frame building methods used in the U.S. As it is a USDA Agricultural Handbook it is free to download. If the link doesn't want to work just google the title I used in the subject line. http://naldc.nal.usda.gov/naldc/download.xhtml?id=CAT87210618&content=PDF
