They are only going to try to sell you on going to a more extensive seminar and they use the guru's name to get you there and many think that "guru" will be in attendance when in fact they are not, they are just using their name.  You might get a thing or two out of it.  If anything, it might get you thinking different.  I went to one about a month ago, got sold to go to their 3 day seminar which cost me $1997.  Once you get through that they will try to sell you on more training costing up to over $41k.  I didn't go any further than the 3 days, even though I contemplated it a lot, but did some more research and decided not to.  It definitely got me thinking differently and made me change the direction I was going with my business, for sure.  Maybe go to check it out, meet some people and do them a favor and introduce them to BP!  Ha!

Stop watching those DB's on TV.

You want to waste $200 and three days, get some fliers printed up for cheap and walk the neighborhoods you are interested in and try to pick up some deals.

I can't stand these people.  All of them are scumbags.

What type of people would pay $200 to go be cheering idiots at what is supposed to be an educational seminar.  That's how they fool all these idiots.  Rah rah flip with us rah rah just pay us a little more and we will tell you how.  HAHAHAHAHA scumbags

You can always tell when they come into town.  Craigslist gets slammed with "wholesalers" looking for cash buyers HAHAHAHAHA.  Yeah you need no money to be an investor.  LOL

You are better off with networking with people who have verifiable track records as HMLs, flippers, landlords, wholesalers, etc. Before I sign up with a mentor, I want to talk to investors who have actually used the mentor's strategies to make money.

it may be use full to attend the free workshop to make connections to other people in your area that also want to get into real estate but when it comes to a 20 or 40k education that is a SCAM because anyone who needs that much education for real estate should probably be in some sort of assisted living situation... (licensing courses for agents are 75$ online for most states) and I'm not saying its easy or anything and it does take WORK but if you have the 20k to spend on a learning experience.... how about you take a trip to detroit or baltimore and buy a few inner city row houses that need work than go from there.... form an entity to hold them and find a contractor who needs work... probably a few of them in those markets and offer to pay 50% of the cost of materials and offer 50% of the entity holding the properties.... the contractor will have the responsibility to fix up and act as PM in exchange for 50% of the profits after property taxes... Or find out of work contractors and offer them a piece of equity for work done etc.... You could lose all the money that way but atleast you will have actually tried something and before you go buy some slums read the forums here and you will probably have everything you need and anything else you need you can always ask the forum...

I did both introductory seminar and 3 day workshop. I would say it wasn't bad for newbie like me to get started on REI journey. It was motivating enough for me to start my research and that's how I bumped into Biggerpockets. Since then I am regularly reading forums/blogs and networking with investors/providers. I wouldn't mind paying $199 for 2 people for 3 day workshop. IMHO it is worth your time along with your spouse or partner if you new in this but that's about it. Don't fall in the trap of their $35k education program. BP has everything to offer and did i say for FREE...yes use BP for your advantage  by free education/listening podcast/ webinars/ socialize with great people and investors here and over time you will be well settled in this game...

You're not going to learn much in the two hour seminar, except for the time and place of the three day seminar.   As far as the three day seminar I think you'd be far better off spending three days reading BP.  Heck, get a few cold ones and relax while learning.  No you might not get pumped up, but you won't get three days of people trying to sell you a $35K program ad nauseam either.

@Neal Downey the first will be a 2 hr session and then sell you a 3 day seminar for 200 for 2 people, if you are looking for inspiration, enough info to make you dangerous and looking to spend 35k you will find it there. My word of advice would be if you can take the 3 days do it, they will get you pumped, just don't fall for the hook line and sinker pipe dream they will be trying to sell you. Why pay for an education when you can get it right here at bigger pockets for free. With that said good luck and may you be blessed in your adventure.
