Second Basement Unit
I have a property in the L4G area in Aurora. This property was posted as a property with 2 legal basement units and I purchased it through my real estate agent 6 years ago.
I am now contacted by the City telling me that my 2nd basement unit is illegal and needs to be removed by the end of July (in less than a month).
Also, I have a tenant there and if I am not mistaken, I'll need to give them a 120 days notice before termination which is after the deadline the city has given me.
Would I be able to receive some advice regarding this situation? How should I respond to the City inspector? The inspector didn't mention, but can I apply for a minor variance or zoning amendment instead of removing my tenant? Should I legally go after the previous owner for false advertising? What should I do now?
Thanks!
