The world's largest online retailer plans to build another huge distribution facility 30 miles south of Austin.

A 1 million-square-foot warehouse is proposed on 71 acres near the Hays County Transportation Department in San Marcos, and according to city leaders and documents, that facility is planned for Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN), which has quickly grown to be one of the area's largest employers.

The online retailer already has a 855,000-square-foot fulfillment center in the Hays County city that's about 12 miles southwest of the proposed facility
