Is Silicon Valley done for?
"Bet-David goes on to explain that unless California “gets its act together,” the tech community too will begin to follow in the footsteps of some of its most influential members."
Austin has been growing like crazy for many many years. It's easy to think that it can't continue at this pace. This weekend my girlfriend and I took a drive up 130 and saw all of the massive development going on including Tesla and Amazon with their gigafactory and huge distribution center. In my opinion (and many others) the growth is just beginning. Silicon Valley running out all of their best and brightest doesn't hurt it.
Do you think silicon valley can make a comeback?

I'd be curious, since you can write code anywhere and we've lost a lot of the high-tech manufacturing business and IP protection to China and Korea. I really hope we come up with an answer since I'm seeing kids with eng degrees (especially MechEng) having a hard time finding decent jobs. You also don't need a BSCS or BSEE to write code, so those jobs may be going offshore soon also.
Silicon Valley is going to be driven by the big guys since non-software startups are almost non-existent. Now the question is if they pull an Amazon and move to more business-friendly (ie lower tax) climates.
The other issue in the Bay Area making them less attractive is housing costs obviously. Mt B-I-L's girlfriend bought a replacement house in Fremont and you sure don't get a lot for $900K now. Have no clue how you attract newbies to the area that want to stay and see those prices.
While I think Austin is pretty good, in about 10-20 years, they'll dace all the above issues. It may be sooner depending on the out-migration of tech jobs.
