Double Wide on family farm land vs renting in town
Hi folks,
My wife and I are moving to the Katy area later this year to be closer to family. We were thinking to rent for the first year or two rather than buy a primary residence; to make sure we like it and to keep dry powder for real estate investing...I figure 2k/ month for the kind of house we'd like. Figure 50k for 2 years.
Now we have recently had an offer from family to build on the farmland 20 miles outside of Katy no rent. I'm thinking a double wide + necessary improvements = well, sewage, electricity, road... figure 80k total.
Now the double wide is always there for us stay or not... we write off the entire purchase price on income tax...maybe air bnb when not using... Wow starting to sound like a no brainer as I write this but would love some feed back... Anything I'm not seeing?
Thanks
