Houston Area Direct Lenders

I'm going to be relocating to Houston soon and looking to finance my own residence and an investment property. Can anyone recommend a good direct lender? I'm relocating with my girlfriend and we're interested in trying to put one property in my name and one her hers to maximize our situation.  I've worked with brokers in the past and I would consider working with a broker again, but have read that direct may be a bit smoother. I also want to build a relationship for future lending. I use to live in Minneapolis and owned/occupied duplexes there, but have been out of it for the past 5 years- so bear with me.

Thanks to all in the forum- from reading the posts it seems like a great place to network and learn more about the area. I'm looking forward to attending some of the local events once I'm relocated.

Cheers,

-Ryan
