Knoxville REIA & Gus's Fried Chicken
I had the opportunity to go to the monthly Knoxville REIA last week and simply wanted to post on Bigger Pockets what a fantastic meeting and group this is. The REIA President, Victor Jerrnigan, is one of the most knowledgeable people I have met since I started in this business and certainly knows all the ins and outs of Knoxville. I spent a few hours with him at Gus's Fried Chicken on 3101 Sutherland Ave (shameless plug for my restaurant--but go eat their, you will not regret it). I have been to REIA meetings all over the country and can say that this group host the best meeting I have ever been to and really puts out some good content for its attendees. Whether you are a new investor just getting started or a seasoned investor, their is content for all. Honestly, I can't recall the last time I stayed for an entire meeting, mostly because the meetings are all the same and the content is mostly speakers trying to sell stuff to new investors. The market update given in the beginning is very informative of what is going on in Knoxville and gives a good information that any investor would want. I recommend going and listening closely to what Victor says.
When you go to Gus's Fried Chicken (another shameless plug) give yourself a hour if you are getting their between 11:45 and 2. The lunch crowd is very busy and we cook the chicken to order, so on a very busy day, ticket times can push 20 to 25 minutes. I promise you, it is worth the wait. To go orders go is your best route during peak times if you need a rush. ESPN Gameday placed a huge order and loved it during the UT / Florida game. Great for your next tailgate.
