@Ross Lantz if you are asking about converting a single family home into a multi family then you are in for a real challenge. Most communities make it very difficult. It has to be the perfect storm. The correct zoning, the correct structure, enough parking, in some cases fire sprinkler systems, fire doors and fire rated drywall etc.. etc.. I wouldnt say its impossible but please do your homework because most areas in Pittsburgh and surrounding boroughs will all have different views on what is and what isnt allowed.
