House Hack South Hills Pittsburgh

Hi Everyone,

I will be moving to Pittsburgh in January and plan on house hacking a multi-family property most likely somewhere in the South Hills area. Half the time I will be working out of an office in Charleroi and would like to keep my commute under 40 minutes. This led me to start looking in the Brookline, Whitehall, Brentwood, and Pleasant Hills neighborhoods. Potentially Munhall as well.

I am interested to hear your thoughts/tips on this area specifically for MFH investing as a new investor looking to house hack? I understand that these neighborhoods can/do vary greatly from one another and even within an individual neighborhood things can vary street to street.

I am also interested in finding an investor-friendly agent familiar with this area. If you or anyone you know can help me out, please let me know.

Thanks to some friends in South Hills, I have housing covered until I am able to find a place for myself so my timeline is somewhat flexible. I am more concerned with finding a good deal than finding something immediately.

I appreciate any advice you can provide!

- Justin
