Electric Permit and Hard Wire for Fire Alarm

Hi All!

I am currently renovating a duplex in Bella Vista.  We would like to update the electric panel (last completed in the 80's) however the contractor informed me that new rules stipulate new permits must include a hardwired connection to a Fire System.

Is this true???
