New Member Intro/Moving to Philly!

Hi all! My name is Jerry, an accountant from NYC moving to Philadelphia in July/August. Over the past couple of months I've been trying to learn as much about real estate as possible reading posts and blogs and listening to podcasts here on BP, as well as through other avenues. I'm ready to begin my journey as a real estate investor with the move. My girlfriend will be attending grad school at Temple University and I plan on purchasing a MFP that's 20-25 min outside of Temple via public transportation. Preferably we would like to live within walking distance of the BSL and looking into the possibility of Manayunk.

I plan to take a couple of trips down to meet with realtors and to familiarize myself with the area as I understand Philadelphia is a city of neighborhoods and competition there is pretty steep right now. If anyone has any insight about the area or referrals for investor friendly agents it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jerry,

Welcome to Philadelphia! I purchased my first home here as an investment property and am currently undergoing renovations. My realtor, Santana Harrison is an active investor and helped us locate our home with her "investor" hat on; giving us great insight on the value of the property and growth potential.  I recommend her not just for her expertise in the Philadelphia market, but also for her enthusiastic personality and passion for real estate.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Luis
