Newbie looking for learning resources

I'm a 20 year old college student who just started learning about real estate this year. So far I've read The House Hacking Strategy by Craig Curelop and that brought me to bigger pockets and their real estate podcast/webinars. I am trying to learn as much as I possibly can so that I can start asap, but also do not want to dive in without first knowing my stuff. Wondering if anyone on here can recommend good books or other resources for me? Maybe some that have to do with the OKC area as I'm trying to learn about the local market. Thanks!

Hey @Bobby Chapman,

Welcome to BP, great to see you active on the forums!

This is a great place to connect with people in and around your target market.

To help new BP'ers find what and who they're looking for, I recommend 4 things:

1. complete your BP profile - be as detailed and specific as possible when mentioning your goals. There are many people with value to add to you and plenty of people you can add value to as well!

2. use the 'search' function to find topics, areas and people of interest. Get answers to your questions and find people using this function!

3. Set up 'keyword' alerts so that you can receive notifications once a topic or area of interest in mentioned in one of the forums. Its a great way to stay current!

4. Check out the Events tab at the top to find local meet ups around you.

To dive in a bit deeper with info specific to your market, I'd recommend reaching out to a local investor-friendly Realtor. An investor friendly Realtor will find out your goals, help you devise an action plan and give you an overview of the local market.

Regarding literature, I'd recommend:

Any BP book -https://www.biggerpockets.com/store

Millionaire Real Estate investing by Gary Keller - very practical book. Gary helps everything make sense by reverse engineering the goal of $1M income and getting that goal chopped down to actionable and measurable steps.

The E-Myth by Michael Gerber- Highly recommended no matter what type of business you’re looking to begin - RE Investing, construction, development, property management, etc.

12 Rules for life by Jordan Peterson - This has nothing to do with RE but everything to do with living your life with purpose, integrity, gratitude, etc.

Best of luck to you moving forward!

Abel
